Tracking the City's Progress with Longmont Indicators

Longmont Indicators is an online dashboard that enables visitors to track the City’s progress toward achieving the goals of Envision Longmont Multimodal & Comprehensive Plan and the City’s Sustainability Plan. Visitors can explore metrics and data about topics such as housing, transportation, air quality, energy, water, and more.

Problem

The City wanted a way to better showcase progress on both plans in order to keep the momentum going after adoption. City staff also wanted to share the data with City Council first and get their input and approval before sharing the information with the public.

Solution

Konveio provided a convenient method for staff to disseminate initial findings to City Council by sharing a link to a beta form for them to view and comment on. When the City was ready to make the information public, Konveio provided an easy way for site visitors to examine the goals of both plans and explore implementation data using graphs and charts along with trend markers that make it easy to see how the city is doing. Each indicator page is directly tied back to the plan documents so stakeholders can easily toggle between the plan language and progress report. Using Konveio’s intuitive backend, city staff can easily update the indicators when new data points become available.

Impact

The City reported that the Konveio site not only looks good, but is easy to use both internally and externally. The user experience is excellent, and staff using the site have enjoyed the experience as well. Staff especially found the built-in graph component to be useful, and also found it straightforward to upload their own charts.
